Jacob's very busy day

Let's start with yesterday. When I called Sunday morning, Jacob's nurse had decided that he was doing well enough with his temp's to try opening up his isolette to practice for an open crib and that since he acted like he wanted to suck on his fingers that he could try his first small bottle. He did the sucking part really well but didn't have the hang of the swallowing part and it just pooled in his mouth a bit.

Practicing with and open bed.
When I got there at 2pm we did non nutritive nursing a bit be he was pretty sleepy so we mainly snuggled for a few hours.
Extra relaxed Jacob post kangaroo time.
Jacob had a great night with keeping up his temperature but was a bit cool when I got there Monday morning. He was due for a bath so we decided to kangaroo after his first care and then bath before the next feeding so he could get extra warm on mommy before getting wet.

This photo is of Jacob in his THIRD tub of water. He pooped in the first two. Stinky little boy.
The swaddle bath must be very relaxing...
Jacob was acting like he really wanted to eat after his bath but I hadn't pumped since before his last feeding 3 hours earlier. The nurses said I could let him try to really nurse a little if I could manage my flow. He did well for a little while but I didn't let him try for long since the bath took a lot of energy too.

The doctor said Jacob could try an open crib even tho he had been cool in the morning.. the recharge on mommy worked and he was warm so we'd see how he did in his bed next to the isolette

He is so cute and doing so well! How wonderful! Congratulations! You look like you are doing well too! Still praying things stay on the upside and he will be home before you know it. :)
